Let’s Get Hopping 47: Non-traditional Christmas.

Hello, and welcome back to my blog. Today I am hopping with the crew from Let’s Get Hopping and our theme for this month is ‘non-traditional Christmas’. If you’ve been following along with the hop, you would have come around from Alicia Yap. I hope you enjoyed what Alicia had to share.

I’m a real sucker for tradtional Christmas colours – red, green, and gold – so this months theme was a challenge for me! I started by choosing some of the colours featured in the Whimsy & Wonder Specialty Designer Series Paper; Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron, and Misty Moonlight.

To make the background, I used one of the Wonderful Snowflakes Embellishments as a stencil and sponged it using Blending Brushes and Blushing Bride. I then spritzed the cardstock with Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write Marker, and dripped some water over it using a Water Painter. The snowflake I used ended up with a cool coloured iridescent finish, so I used it as a part of the sentiment focal piece.

I fussy cut a selection of the presents in the DSP and arranged them around the Wonderful Snowflake Embellishment. I then cut a thin strip from the iridescent sheet that the snowflakes come in, and layered that with a strip of DSP. A length of the Blushing Bride Frayed Grosgrain Ribbon added some texture and dimension to the sentiment piece.

I chose this sentiment from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set because it worked so well with the fussy cut presents.

Hi, welcome to my blog. Today I have a card to share with you that I made using the Peaceful Cabin stamp set.

This card is fairly simple in the layers and embellishments, but features a couple of fun techniques to create depth and texture. I created the background using the emboss resist technique. First, I stamped the trees in VersaMark and then set with White Emboss Powder, then I used Blending Brushes to sponge colour onto the Basic White cardstock. The pink colours I used were Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo, and Polished Pink. Once the colour was sponged on I used a tissue to remove excess ink on the embossed images.

Next, I used a Water Painter to drip water onto the sponged ink. For the smaller droplets I tapped the Water Painter against my Bone Folder, and for the larger droplets I simply dripped water directly onto the cardstock.

The sentiment was heat embossed in Gold onto a strip of Flirty Flamingo cardstock, and then adhered over the top of a length of White Glittered Organdy ribbon. To embellish the card I adhered three Flirty Flamingo From My Heart Faceted Gems using Fine Tip Glue.

This month’s Cards & Coffee class theme was Mother’s Day.

To make these cards we used the Floral Essence stamp set and coordinating punch. I am so sad that these items are going to be retired with the next Annual Catalogue! The stamp set is so easy to use, and features some super sweet sentiments.

Inspiration for the colour scheme for these two cards came from another Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator named Alisa Tilsner. The colours Alisa had used were Rococo Rose, Blushing Bride, Pool Party, and Bermuda Bay. You can see her original project pictures at the end of this blog post.

To keep the card designs within a beginner/casual crafter level I made use of stamping and sponging colouring, as well as using the coordinating punch to add interest. For this card we used the three petal flower image to create the background in tone-on-tone stamping. This technique is a simple way to make your own Designer Series Paper. We sued the Sponge Brushes to add some colour around the four edges.

For this next card, we used a fun masking technique to add colour to the front panel. The Sponge Brushes are great for adding nice, smooth colour in larger areas. We used a different flower image in the stamp set, and added detail with the small leaf and the flower centre. To add some pizzazz, we spritzed the masked area with Frost White Shimmer Paint using a Water Painter.

A wee heart trinket from the Playful Pets Trinkets pack tied onto the sentiment strip with a length of Blushing Bride Twine from the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack finished off the card nicely.

Hello and welcome back to my blog. For this month’s sampler class we used the Springtime Joy stamp set to make the Easter themed page. How cute are the lamb and rabbit?! When I first saw this set in the Mini Catalogue I knew it would make a great sampler page.

Inspiration for the ‘Easter’ sentiment was from Alanna Wharf – Sleepless Stamper. I saw a card Alanna had designed on Instagram and just loved the use of the negative cut out as the main sentiment. The co-ordinating Designer Series Paper makes a great background for the letters.

We made the wreath using dies from the Pierced Blooms Dies. The branches are curved in different directions, which makes for a fuller and more natural wreath. Branches and plants in nature are of course not uniform in size and shape!

We used a mixture of the colours from the Love You Always Foil Sheets pack to die cut flowers and additional leaves to add some accents to the wreath. The foil sheets feature Sahara Sand, Blushing Bride, and Rococo Rose – such a great mix of colours!

We used Stampin’ Blends to colour the rabbit and lamb, and sponged some colour to the white background using the new Blending Brushes. The Blending Brushes are great for adding colour and texture. For added texture and interest for the background piece, we embossed it using the Old World Paper 3D embossing folder.
