June 8×8 Sampler Class.

June 8×8 Sampler Class.

Here I am catching up on blog posts!

June was a great sampler layout, with a fantastic product suite. The Follow Your Art suite is bright and colourful, and full of fun.

We had a full class, a first for the sampler class! Everyone had lots of fun putting their layout together. The image below is made up with three of the four ladies’ sampler pages in frames.

My favourite piece from the whole suite has to be the Follow Your Art Embellishment Kit. The felt shapes with stitching are super cute, and will appeal to any kind of crafter! There is a sheet of die-cut shapes in four colours that coordinate with the designer series paper in the suite. Yet another instance of Stampin’ Up! helping to make projects easier!

The main technique we covered this month was sponging using the sponge brayers. Sponging is an easy way to introduce any colour to your project. Does this scenario sound familiar? You’ve started work on a card or other project. You have a Whisper White card base, a pack of designer series paper, but no coordinating coloured cardstock! I don’t know how many times this has happened to me. What’s a quick and easy solution? Sponge brayers! With a pack of sponge brayers, and Whisper White card stock, you can have cardstock in any colour you have in an ink pad. So convenient!

We stamped and die cut the images from the It Starts With Art bundle, and coloured them using Stampin’ Write Markers. A finishing touch was a strip of Crushed Curry Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon with a knot tied in the middle.

Happy crafting!

Mother’s Day Tea Treat.

Mother’s Day Tea Treat.

Today I am sharing with you an oldie but a goodie… a tea treat holder and matching note card. A good friend of mine likes to have a go at 3D papercraft projects, and is often a source of inspiration for me. This project was exactly that. She found a tutorial online and showed me the result.
The timing couldn’t be any better. It is perfect for tea lovers, or indeed suitable for any hot drink – coffee or hot chocolate, or a small chocolate treat too!

Mothers Day is fast approaching, and boy it has snuck up on me this year. April was such a full month of events, family life and work that I haven’t been as prepared as I like to be for the occasion. I needed something quick to put together that would make a good gift for giving this Mother’s Day.

The Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper is lots of fun with its bold colours and floral patterns. Every sheet in the pack is suitable for this project, so I chose my favourite few and made a bunch of these treat and note card duos.

The Crumb Cake note cards I used are a retired Stampin’ Up! product, but either of the Whisper White or Very Vanilla note cards would look just as cute.

The sentiments are stamped in Basic Grey ink and are from the Strong & Beautiful stamp set. This stamp set has wonderful, uplifting sentiments in a gorgeous font. I will be getting full value from this stamp set I’m sure!

I love how easy it is to co-ordinate colours thanks to Stampin’ Up!. Did you know that each DSP pack comes with a list of the colours featured in the paper? I went with Lovely Lipstick cardstock and used the Decorative Ribbon Border punch to create an element to sit behind the piece of DSP. The sentiment piece on the tea pouch is made using the Thoughtful Banners stamp set, the Duet Banner punch, and the Tailored Tag punch. I stamped the ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ in Basic Grey ink and then sponged the edges of the Whisper White cardstock and the vellum piece with Lovely Lipstick ink.

Please leave a comment and let me know what you think of this stamping project. Follow my blog to receive new blog posts straight to your inbox.
