Hi, welcome to my blog. Today I have a card to share with you that I made using the Peaceful Cabin stamp set.
This card is fairly simple in the layers and embellishments, but features a couple of fun techniques to create depth and texture. I created the background using the emboss resist technique. First, I stamped the trees in VersaMark and then set with White Emboss Powder, then I used Blending Brushes to sponge colour onto the Basic White cardstock. The pink colours I used were Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo, and Polished Pink. Once the colour was sponged on I used a tissue to remove excess ink on the embossed images.
Next, I used a Water Painter to drip water onto the sponged ink. For the smaller droplets I tapped the Water Painter against my Bone Folder, and for the larger droplets I simply dripped water directly onto the cardstock.
The sentiment was heat embossed in Gold onto a strip of Flirty Flamingo cardstock, and then adhered over the top of a length of White Glittered Organdy ribbon. To embellish the card I adhered three Flirty Flamingo From My Heart Faceted Gems using Fine Tip Glue.
Today I have a gorgeous gift box to share with you. I’ve dressed up the Mini Pizza Boxes with the Forever Blossoms stamp set to make a soft, feminine gift box. Place some yummy chocolates or a few tea pouches inside and it makes a lovely gift.
To make this project you will need:
Mini Pizza Box
Whisper White cardstock
Start by adding Flirty Flamingo ink to the Mini Pizza Box using the Sponge Brayer. Do this BEFORE folding on any of the scored lines. You can add as much or as little ink as you like, and you can make it as even or rough a coating as you please. I stayed light on the ink, and wasn’t too fussy about having a even coating.
Fold the Mini Pizza Box on the scored lines.
Stamp the large flower image from the Forever Blossoms stamp set in Tuxedo Black Momento ink. Stamp the individual and the two leaf stamp three times each.
Sponge the centers of the flowers with Flirty Flamingo and Cherry Cobbler using the sponge daubers. Sponge the leaves with Pear Pizzazz, and add detail using the Light Old Olive Blends.
NOTE: Take the Flirty Flamingo sponging out into the petals a little bit, and keep the Cherry Cobbler sponging just in the center of the flower.
Die cut the flowers and place to the side.
Using the detailed shapes from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies cut the third die up from the smallest in Champagne Foil and the second die up from smallest in Whisper White cardstock.
Stamp the sentiment in Cherry Cobbler in the center of the Whisper White piece. Ink up the flower bud image using Flirty Flamingo and Pear Pizzazz ink pads or markers. Stamp this off twice, and then stamp over top of the sentiment.
Adhere this piece to the Champagne Foil piece using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Tie a length of Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon around the Mini Pizza Box and tie a large bow in the right-hand side of the lid.
Adhere the large flower to the lid on the left-hand side using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. Be sure to place the Dimensionals where they will sit either side of the ribbon.
Adhere the sentiment piece in the center of the lid using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. Again, be mindful of placement for the Dimensionals.
Finally, adhere the individual flowers to the sentiment piece using Glue Dots, and tuck the two-leaf images underneath the sentiment piece using Glue Dots.
Hello! And welcome to my second tutorial blog post and YouTube video. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and take a look. Please remember to subscribe to my YouTube channel and blog to receive updates straight to your inbox.
I saw a card design by Linda Yamamoto from YamStamps and loved it. To me it was a design that lent itself to different levels of crafting ability, so it was an easy choice for my second YouTube tutorial video. Below are the full instructions for the three card designs. I’d love to know what you think of the stamp set and coordinating punch from the Sale-a-Bration freebies.
First is the beginner crafter design. All you need to make this card are card stock and inks. Super simple, and oh so pretty! Whichever level you are at in your crafting, there is a lot to be said for simple designs. They show us that you don’t need to have all the bells and whistles to make a gorgeous card.
The vine image and dots are stamped directly on to Whisper White Thick card base in Smoky Slate. The large flower is stamped off in Flirty Flamingo, and the sentiment, small flower and Flirty Flamingo flower center are stamped in Melon Mambo. The same image is stamped on the inside of the card. The center of our cards are often overlooked; a simple image in the corner or supporting sentiment are nice ways to decorate the inside.
Next up is the casual crafter design. You’ll need a few more supplies for this version, but the stamping is as the previous version.
The stamping is repeated on the Whisper White layer and the inside of the card. This is then adhered to the Smoky Slate layer using liquid glue or tape, and the Smokey Slate layer is adhered to the card front. The flowers are stamped off in Flirty Flamingo onto scrap Whisper White card stock, and then punched out using the Small Bloom Punch. These are adhered to the card front using liquid glue. Dimension was added to the flowers by using a Bone Folder to curl the petals.
Lastly is the avid crafter design. This stepped up version builds on the materials and steps used for the beginner and the casual crafter versions.
The Whisper White layer is stamped and the flowers are punched out as previously instructed. For this design the flowers are popped up onto the card front using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, and decorated with a silver Metallic Pearl in the centre of each one. This layer is adhered directly to the Smokey Slate layer which is embossed using the Scripty embossing folder.
The sentiment ‘CongratYOUlations is stamped in Melon Mambo onto a 1.5cm strip of Whisper White. This is popped up on top of the Metallic Thread with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Inside the card is decorated with the same size Smoky Slate embossed piece, and stamped Whisper White piece as the card front.
Reminder that this months purchase gift from me is one packet of Heart Doilies. You can get a free packet by shopping with me before March 31st 2020 with any order of $60 or more (before shipping). These are super cute, you’ll find lots of inspiration in the Mini Catalogue.
We weren’t able to hold my March sampler class due to New Zealand moving into Alert Level 4 with COVID-19. I missed sharing this design with the ladies who had booked in for the class, but everyone’s health and well-being is far more important.
In lieu of a class, I hope you enjoy seeing the Easter themed project I had prepared.
The Fable Friends stamp set was too cute to pass by for an Easter themed sampler page. The rabbit and ducklings were coloured using a blending technique I learnt from a fellow Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, Bev Poultney.
Use Watercolour Pencils to colour in the rabbit and duckling. I tried to do some shading by going darker around the edges and lighter in the middle of each area. Then bring in your Blender Pen and create a water coloured look by smoothing out the pencil lines. This is a fun technique if, like me, you struggle with water colouring.
I used the Thoughtful Blooms stamp set and co-ordinating punch from the Sale-a-Bration freebies to create the flower and leaves on the panel with the rabbit. Colours used for the flowers are Flirty Flamingo, Calypso Coral and So Saffron, and the leaves are Pear Pizzazz.
To finish off the flowers, I coloured Clear Faceted Gems using Daffodil Delight Light Stampin’ Blends.
The Easter panel in Crumb Cake is embossed with the Basket Weave 3D Embossing Folder. I die cut the letters from a sheet of Calypso Coral Subtles 6×6 Designer Series Paper.
The ‘Happy’ is from the stamp set Wildly Happy and is stamped on So Saffron card stock.
For the panel with the chicks in Easter eggs I created a fun faux suede texture with the Pear Pizzazz grass. When you run a bone folder over a piece of card stock over and over the card stock will start to separate. Once the card stock comes a part, carefully pull the card stock in two.
I coloured Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon with Dark So Saffron Stampin’ Blend. I love having white twine or ribbons for my crafting, because with the Stampin’ Blends they are customize-able for any project.
How exciting is this? Stampin’ Up! are releasing this amazing suite of products at the beginning of April.
The Ornate Garden Suite features new products from the upcoming Annual Catalogue such as:
Hello! Welcome to my first tutorial blog post. I will be offering a Youtube video and corresponding tutorial blog post more often, and am excited to know what you think of them! Please take a moment after reading this to leave a comment, I would appreciate the effort.
I have CASE’d this card design from Amanda at The Craft Spa. I loved how versatile the fun fold card base was. Designer Series Paper (DSP) is certainly the star of this card, and makes it easy to change up to suit any occasion. Once you have chosen three contrasting designs from a DSP pack, you can then decorate the front using coordinating products. One of the many reasons I love Stampin’ Up! products is because they coordinate so easily. This can cut out a lot of time spend when making a card or other project.
To complete this project you will need:
Card base in Real Red
10.5 x 29.8cm. Score at 14.9, 17.9, 22.9, and 25.9cm.
Front panel in Flirty Flamingo
6.5 x 14 cm. Score at 1 and 4cm.
Reverse layer in Whisper White
10 x 14.4cm.
Card base in From My Heart Specialty DSP
9.5 x 10cm
Front panel in From My Heart Specialty DSP
6 x 12cm. Cut on the long side at 9.5cm. Be mindful of directional patterns here. The 9.5cm piece will be the ‘bottom’.
Box panels in From My Heart Specialty DSP
7 x 10cm. Cut on the short side at 4.5cm. Be mindful of directional patterns here. The 4.5cm piece will be the ‘bottom’.
Fold on the score lines on the card base. Use your Bone Folder to sharpen the folds. Lay the card base down in the landscape position. Use a strong adhesive such as Multipurpose Liquid Glue to Tear & Tape on the smallest rectangle on the end. Now fold the two small rectangles on the end back, and bring the large rectangle over to adhere. Once adhered the card base should look like the above image.
Adhere DSP layer to the card base and to the box panel.
Now fold on the score lines on the front panel. Use your Bone Folder to sharpen the folds. Still using a strong adhesive, lay some down on the smallest rectangle. Fold down the two small rectangles and use this edge to align with the top edge of the card base.
Fold the box panels up so that everything is the size of a standard card base. Use a pencil to mark where the front panel sits on the box panel. This will be where you will need to put adhesive.
Stamp the corner hearts in Flirty Flamingo on the Whisper White piece, and the heart in the center stamped off. The sentiment ‘From My Heart To Yours’ was stamped in Real Red on top of the stamped off heart.
To finish off the card, adhere three Faceted Gems to the front of the card.
