July Cards & Coffee.

July Cards & Coffee.

Hello! Welcome to my blog. For this month’s Cards and Coffee class the theme was Sailing Home. The two cards were made using the Sailing Home stamp set and a masculine colour scheme. I don’t know about you, but I find creating cards for men a bit harder, but this sea themed set was a perfect fit!

For the first card we used the alcohol and Stampin’ Blends technique to create a fun background for the card. Using Dark Pool Party, Light Misty Moonlight, and Light Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends we coloured randomly over a piece of Vellum cardstock and then spritzed it with isopropyl alcohol. This creates a fun, fluid ink splat.

We frayed a length of Evening Evergreen Chevron Weave Ribbon, and then used the loose pieces to create some interesting texture behind the sentiment piece. A stamped and fussy cut sail boat, and the sentiment stamped and punched using the Tailored Tag punch made the focal piece.

For the second card we stamped tone-on-tone for the background, and used a strip of vellum to show a different way to use the blends and alcohol technique.

The left over frayed ribbon looks so good behind behind the ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment. We stamped and fussy cut the lighthouse and adhered it to the card front before adhering the sentiment with Dimensionals.

Water Front Fun.

Water Front Fun.

Hello! Today I have four fun projects to share with you which use the Waterfront stamp set. The four projects have the same stamped mountain landscape scene, with a few added extras to change it up. I found inspiration for the scene and colours from Amy O’Neill of Amy’s Paper Craft.

For this first design I simply stamped directly onto a Whisper White Notecard. You really don’t need to have a large crafting stash to create gorgeous cards. With as little supplies as paper, ink, some ribbon, and a stamp set you too can make a card everyone would love to receive.

To create the scene I used the following colours:

  • Clouds – Seaside Spray
  • Sun – So Saffron
  • Mountains – Soft Suede
  • Trees – Garden Green
  • Fields – Old Olive
  • Water – Balmy Blue, Bermuda Bay, and Night of Navy
  • Sentiment – Night of Navy
  • Ribbon – Braided Linen Trim

For this design I stamped the mountain scene onto a piece of Whisper White, and then adhered that to a Soft Suede card front. To add a bit of texture to the Soft Suede card front, I stamped the dots image in Soft Suede along two of the edges. I also added a longer piece of Braided Linen Trim and tied it around the Whisper White layer.

For this third design I stamped the mountain scene onto a piece of Whisper White and then adhered this to a Soft Suede A5 card base. The Soft Suede card front was stamped with dots as before, and I also added a layer of wood texture from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper pack. I popped up the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals, and added a short length of Braided Linen Trim behind it.

This is a card size that I almost never make, but one that I find is super useful for lots of people to sign and write notes for the recipient. I encourage you to have a go at creating a larger card like this one :).

Finally, I made a decor piece that fits into a 6×6 inch frame, matted for 5×5 inches. The mountain scene is stamped onto Whishper White, which is then adhered to wood texture from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper pack, and then onto a Soft Suede layer.

June 8×8 Sampler Class.

June 8×8 Sampler Class.

Hello! Welcome back :). June’s sampler class was a lot of fun. We used the Mountain Air bundle and made a landscape scene for the theme ‘Mid Winter Fun’.

The Mountain Air stamp set is a reversible set, meaning that every stamp can be placed on a stamping block in reverse, and used to stamp solid images. We used the reverse of the mountain range below to fill in the snow-capped hills.

Mountain Air reversible photopolymer stamp set.

To make the sunrise/sunset sky we began by sponged Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Terracotta Tile, and Poppy Parade in arches starting from the center of the bottom edge of the Whisper White cardstock.

Next we wet the cardstock, making sure it was quite wet as the Whisper White cardstock will absorb ink and water quickly, and scrunched the piece up into a small ball. We then opened the ball up carefully and placed it aside to dry. Wetting the cardstock in this way smooths out the sponging, and softens the colours.

Once the sky piece was dry, (a heat tool can help this along), we smoothed it out a bit, and adhered it to a piece of Terracotta Tile cardstock. Make sure to use a good amount of Tear & Tape or Snail+ to secure the sky piece in place. We then finished off the sky by brushing on some Frost White Shimmer Paint that was mixed with isopropyl alcohol in a Stampin’ Spritzer.

The mountain ranges were stamped with Night of Navy – stamped off – and then heat embossed in White Embossing Powder to create the snow-capped mountains.

To create more depth in the scene, we stamped the solid mountains in Balmy Blue – stamped off – and placed them so that they sat in a different profile to the snow-capped mountains.

We stamped the sentiment in Terracotta Tile on a strip of So Saffron, and adhered a strip of Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon behind it.

We die cut two trees in Seaside Spray and used a sponge dauber to add shading with Night of Navy ink. To finish off the cluster of trees, we inked up the single tree image in Seaside Spray – stamped off – and again added shading using a sponge dauber and Night of Navy ink. This was then die cut and adhered on top of the other trees using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Poppy Moments Fun Fold.

Poppy Moments Fun Fold.

Welcome to my blog! Today I have a fun fold card to share with you using the Poppy Moments dies. I hope you enjoy seeing this project. Don’t forget to check out my YouTube tutorial at the bottom of this post.

A group I am a part of has been doing card challenges during our time in Alert Level 4, 3, and now 2. We were challenged to make a sympathy card using a neutral colour as well as our team colours – Night of Navy, Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight.

To complete this project you will need:

  • Card base, Crumb Cake – 14.9cm x 13cm
  • Front panel, Crumb Cake – 10cm x 10cm
  • Cardstock layers, Soft Suede – 2.25cm x 14.6cm AND 9.75cm x 9.75cm
  • Card insert, Bermuda Bay – 10.25cm x 14.6cm
  • Card insert, Whisper White – 10cm x 14.4cm

Score the Crumb Cake at 10.5cm on the long side and fold with a Bone Folder.

Emboss the two pieces of Soft Suede using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. Emboss once and then turn the pieces 90 degrees to get a crosshatch pattern. Adhere these to the Crumb Cake pieces of cardstock.

Line up the Crumb Cake front panel with the bottom edge of the card, and center left to right. Adhere to the inside to the top flap using Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Tear & Tape.

Die cut one large and two small solid and detailed flowers from the Poppy Moments dies in Whisper White.

Sponge the large solid flower with Night of Navy, and the two small solid flowers with Bermuda Bay using sponge daubers.

Repeat this with the three detailed flowers with Daffodil Delight. Colour the detailed flowers with Wink of Stella. Adhere the detailed flowers to the solid flowers using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Adhere the large flower to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the two small flowers using Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Tear & Tape.

Stamp the sentiment ‘Words Are Never Enough’ from the Rooted in Nature stamp set on a strip of Bermuda Bay with VersaMark ink. Coat with white embossing powder and set using a heat tool. Trim the sentiment close to each word using Paper Snips. Adhere the sentiment pieces to the card front using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Tie a 50cm length of Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon around the top of the card front.

Adhere the Bermuda Bay piece to the inside of the card.

Sponge the edges of the Whisper White piece with Bermuda Bay using Sponge Daubers. Adhere this to the inside of the card.
