January Cards & Coffee.

January Cards & Coffee.

2021 brings exciting changes to the classes I offer at Made by Megan! One of which is my Cards & Coffee class held in a local cafe. This class is designed to be suitable for beginner stampers up to casual crafters – anyone really who wants to dedicate some time to getting crafty, having a good cuppa, and enjoying the company of likeminded people.

This month’s theme was ‘With Love’, perfect for almost any occasion or celebration. Great to keep aside for Valentine’s Day (GALentine’s Day).

One card uses Magenta Madness cardstock as the base, a scalloped heart punched out of Just Jade, a straight edge heart punched out of Flowers For Every Season Designer Series Paper, and the sentiment stamped onto Bumblebee cardstock.

The second card is made using Early Espresso for the card base, Cinnamon Cider for the layer, and a straight edged heart punched out in Petal Pink. A zig-zag of Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon just finished off the design.

We made the two cards using the Heartfelt Bundle. I just love bundles that feature punches, they make crafting just that bit easier to do, and they don’t require a tonne of supplies or tools.

This months class was so much fun, I’m looking forward to next month and hopefully meeting some new people. Check out the Classes tab on my blog, or follow me on Facebook for the event details – @megantearemade.

Jar of Flowers Happy Birthday.

Jar of Flowers Happy Birthday.

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I have a fun peek through card to share with you using the Jar of Flowers bundle. If this is your first time visiting my blog, feel free to check out my other posts. Also, leave a comment to let me know you have stopped by!

To complete this project you will need:

  • So Saffron card base – 14.9cm x 21cm
  • Whisper White cardstock – 13.9cm x 10cm
  • Petal Pink card stock – 1cm x 6cm
  • Whisper White scrap pieces
  • Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace Trim – 20cm

Begin by stamping the large jar and a flower bouquet in Tuxedo Black Momento onto scrap pieces of Whsper White cardstock. NOTE: Stamp these images apart as one will be punched out and the other will be fussy cut.

Place the small jar image in reverse onto a stamping block. Stamp this solid image in Balmy Blue stamped off to fill in the large jar stamped image. Colour the stems using an Old Olive Stampin’ Blend. Punch this image out using the Jar Punch.

Colour the bouquet of flowers using Stampin’ Blends. Colours I used in the pictured card were: Old Olive, Poppy Parade dark, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight and Flirty Flamingo. Once you coloured the image, fussy cut it using Paper Snips.

Place the Whisper White layer on the card front while the card base is open, and line it up with the right-hand side edge. Place the floral die from the Ornate Borders Dies along this edge of the card front. Run these through your die cutting and embossing machine forward and back. Remove the Whisper White layer and line up the floral die again. Use a piece of washi tape to hold the die in place. Run this through your machine again, forward and back.

Emboss the Whisper White layer using the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder. Be mindful that the words will be running in the correct orientation. Adhere this piece to the So Saffron card base. Use the die cut edge to line up the two layers.

Adhere the jar to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Tear & Tape. Adhere the bouquet on top of the jar using Stampin’ Dimensionals. NOTE: Be sure to place the adhesive where it won’t go over the holes in the detailed edge.

Stamp the ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment in Poppy Parade ink onto the Petal Pink strip of cardstock. Punch the ends to fit the sentiment using the Tailored Tag Punch. Adhere this to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Tie a bow with the Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace Trim and adhere it using a Glue Dot.

Finally, place three Pearl Basic Jewels around the card front, creating a triangle.

Happy Birthday To You.

Happy Birthday To You.

Last month we celebrated a family members 70th birthday. I was asked to make a card that would hold a large voucher, and here it is!

The Sale-a-Bration set Happy Birthday To You was perfect for creating this card. I stamped the cake image twice; one to colour in full and the other to colour and die cut the flowers. The Birthday Dies released as a part of Stampin’ Up!’s Coordination Product Release make doing this super easy. No more fussy cutting!

I used the cake image to stamp tone-on-tone in Basic Grey ink in the corners of the Basic Grey card stock base. Then I layered Petal Pink and Whiper White card stocks, popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Colouring this image was quick work with Stampin’ Blends.

I also duplicated the card using Mint Macaron. Which do you prefer? I’d love to hear from you. Don’t forget to leave a comment below.

Happy crafting.
