Stampin' Spritzer – Made by Megan

Hello! Welcome to my blog. For this month’s Cards and Coffee class the theme was Sailing Home. The two cards were made using the Sailing Home stamp set and a masculine colour scheme. I don’t know about you, but I find creating cards for men a bit harder, but this sea themed set was a perfect fit!

For the first card we used the alcohol and Stampin’ Blends technique to create a fun background for the card. Using Dark Pool Party, Light Misty Moonlight, and Light Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends we coloured randomly over a piece of Vellum cardstock and then spritzed it with isopropyl alcohol. This creates a fun, fluid ink splat.

We frayed a length of Evening Evergreen Chevron Weave Ribbon, and then used the loose pieces to create some interesting texture behind the sentiment piece. A stamped and fussy cut sail boat, and the sentiment stamped and punched using the Tailored Tag punch made the focal piece.

For the second card we stamped tone-on-tone for the background, and used a strip of vellum to show a different way to use the blends and alcohol technique.

The left over frayed ribbon looks so good behind behind the ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment. We stamped and fussy cut the lighthouse and adhered it to the card front before adhering the sentiment with Dimensionals.

Hello, welcome to my blog! Today I’m sharing another project with you as a part of the Let’s Get Hopping team. Our brief this month was to try something new! The technique I chose to experiment with was using Stampin’ Blends and alcohol on Vellum.

I have been crafting quite a bit with the products in the Expressions in Ink Suite, and I wanted a different way to show off the large leafy die cut piece rather than leaving it in one long branch. To do this I cut the branch into three or four pieces to tuck in behind a length of Gray Granite Shimmer Ribbon.

To decorate the card and to really highlight the new (to me) technique I cut a piece of Vellum that would fill two thirds of the card front. To do the technique I coloured one side of the Vellum using a mixture of Misty Moonlight, Blackberry Bliss, and Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends then sprayed it with isopropyl alcohol using a Stampin’ Spritzer. Depending on how much isopropyl you spritz on, you can come in with a brush or even a Clear Block to smoosh the ink around.

The card base is Merry Merlot with a Basic Black layer. I stamped the sentiment in Merry Merlot, and finished off the card using Gilded Gems.

Once you give this technique a go you will struggle to stop! There are so many possibilities – create a fun background, a unique die cut accent, a fun punched or die cut sentiment shape, and more.
