Let’s Get Hopping 48: CASE It For Christmas.

Hello, and welcome back to my blog. Today I am hopping with the crew from Let’s Get Hopping and our theme for this month is to CASE one of our own designs to create a Christmas project. If you’ve been following along with the hop, you would have come around from Mikaela. I hope you enjoyed what Mikaela had to share.

I chose to CASE the layout from this card I made last year during New Zealand’s Alert Level 4 lockdown. It bring it into Christmas I used Tidings of Christmas Designer Series Paper and the Evergreen Elegance Bundle. I LOVE a stamp set and punch bundle! Punches are super handy to keep close by when crafting.

To create the background I scrunched up a piece of DSP and adhered it to a Basic White card base. I then stamped the sentiment onto a piece of matching DSP and embossed it using White Emboss Powder, and adhered a torn piece of contrasting DSP to the bottom of the sentiment piece.

I used the Evergreen Border Punch to punch out a strip of Gold Foil, and then stamped two of the different sized trees in the Evergreen Elegance stamp set in Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen.

To finish off the card I adhered some Gold Holly Leaves using Glue Dots in and around the sentiment piece, and tied a bow using a length of Cherry Cobbler and Gold Metallic Ribbon. This is a fun technique I learnt from Alicia Yap, where you cut off one edge of a length of ribbon, and pull out the long strands. You are left with a length of frayed ribbon which still has one edge secured, suitable for tying bows! Give it a go in your next crafting project.

Hi, welcome to my blog. Today I have a card to share with you that I made using the Peaceful Cabin stamp set.

This card is fairly simple in the layers and embellishments, but features a couple of fun techniques to create depth and texture. I created the background using the emboss resist technique. First, I stamped the trees in VersaMark and then set with White Emboss Powder, then I used Blending Brushes to sponge colour onto the Basic White cardstock. The pink colours I used were Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo, and Polished Pink. Once the colour was sponged on I used a tissue to remove excess ink on the embossed images.

Next, I used a Water Painter to drip water onto the sponged ink. For the smaller droplets I tapped the Water Painter against my Bone Folder, and for the larger droplets I simply dripped water directly onto the cardstock.

The sentiment was heat embossed in Gold onto a strip of Flirty Flamingo cardstock, and then adhered over the top of a length of White Glittered Organdy ribbon. To embellish the card I adhered three Flirty Flamingo From My Heart Faceted Gems using Fine Tip Glue.

Hello, and welcome back to my blog. Today I am hopping with the crew from Let’s Get Hopping and the focus for this month is ‘anything but a card’. If you’ve been following along with the hop, you would have come around from Alicia Yap. I hope you enjoyed what Alicia had to share.

On one of my many visits to a local dollar store recently, I found these cool wooden hanging pieces and was excited to get crafting with them. They have a raw bark edge which adds a fun textured frame. I have been working a lot with the products in the Peaceful Place Suite and thought they would make a perfect scene for the wooden hanging.

The Peaceful Place Specialty Designer Series Paper features designs with silver foil on one side. I chose the piece with a white back ground and large silver foil trees. I then cut out the cabin with the silhouette die as well as the detailed die in the Snowy White Velvet Sheets, and backed it with a silhouette cut in Soft Suede cardstock. To create more depth to the snowy banks I die cut the fox silhouette in the Velvet Sheets and then stamped the fox in Cajun Craze.

USEFUL TIP: Use your Stamparatus and the negative of the die cut piece to line up the fox stamp perfectly. Once the stamp is in place on one of the Stamparatus plates, place the die cut Velvet Sheet into place with the negative and stamp.

To introduce some colour and break up all of the white in the scene I die cut the trees silhouette and detail die in Evening Evergreen cardstock. I then lightly sponged VersaMark randomly over the die cut piece and set with White Emboss Powder to emulate snow on the branches. I then used the three stand along tree dies to cut a mixture of Garden Green and Old Olive cardstock. For these trees I sponged the edges using Sponge Daubers to add texture and dimension.

To bring the design together I die cut the timber fence pieces in Crumb Cake and sponged them. I placed lengths of Old Olive/Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon, Evening Evergreen Chevron Weave Ribbon, and White Glittered Organdy Ribbon on top of each other and tied a large bow to adhere to the bottom corner. Finally, I scattered a few of the Subtle Shimmer Sequins around the sky, trees, and snow banks.

Hello, welcome back to my blog. Today I have a fun A5 sized card to share with you. I cook at a local kindergarten once a week; it’s super fun hearing the kids play and sing. The Head Teacher of this kindergarten was retiring after 30+ years of teaching in the same kindergarten, and I wanted to make something for the team to sign.

The ladies in the team gave me the direction of ‘floral and bright’, and I think I crushed it with this corner fold card. To keep the design fresh and floral I choose some patterned paper from the Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper. This pack features a nice mixture of soft pastels and rich colours; I chose to work with Calypso Coral, So Saffron, Fresh Freesia, and Very Vanilla.

To create the focal piece I die cut the large floral image from the Blossoms in Bloom bundle in So Saffron and Fresh Freesia. By leaving the centers of each flower in place I was able to adhere the two die cut layers together easily, and also have a decent area to add Dimensionals to adhere it to the card front.

The floral piece needed something extra to fill in the card front so I added some Gold Foil and Vellum die cuts from the Birds & More Dies.

The sentiment was made by stamping the ‘Amazing’ from the Create With Friends stamp set in VersaMark and setting in White Emboss Powder, and the ‘You’ in Crushed Curry on So Saffron cardstock. To make a full bow I layered Fresh Freesia Open Weave Ribbon, Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace Trim, and some Linen Thread on top of each other and then tied the bow. One of the Bumblebee Trinkets and a scattering of the 2021-2023 In Colour Jewels finished off the card.

Hello, and welcome back to my blog. Today I am hopping with the crew from Let’s Get Hopping and our focus is on our favourite occasions. If you’ve been following along with the hop, you would have come to my blog from Tanya Rees. I hope you enjoyed the project that Tanya had to share.

I love creating cards with uplifting sentiments; they are perfect for helping to lift someone during a tough time, they are great for an extra special birthday greeting, or they are good for just because cards. For the card I have to share with you today I used the Colour & Contour bundle. This is a really versatile bundle with a great mixture of stamped images and sentiments, and also a number of fun frame dies, a scalloped edge die, and two dies designed to cut out the two stamped flower images.

To make this card I started with inspiration from Artisan Design Team member Susan Wong. Susan showed a light watercolour wash technique where she added to the background of a stamped and die cut ‘outline’ image before stamping the ‘filler’. This technique added a fun, subtle aspect to Susan’s card, and I was keen to try it out for myself.

I used this technique on the three flowers, as well as a length of Shimmery White cardstock which I then cut using the scalloped edge die in the Scalloped Contours dies. I used Daffodil Delight to do a soft watercolour wash across the entire flower, and then came back in with a stronger amount of Daffodil Delight to add some interest. I then added bit of Shaded Spruce to the centers.

To bring the card together, I spritzed a layer of Smoky Slate cardstock using a Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Marker and popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals on to a Smoky Slate card base. I then built up the watercoloured components with a strip of Shaded Spruce cardstock, and a length of the black and white twine from the Playful Pets Trim Combo Pack tied into a large bow. Finally, I stamped the uplifting sentiment ‘You’re Absolutely Amazing’ onto Basic Black cardstock in White Emboss Powder. I love the trend of fussy cutting sentiments, and went with a mixture of straight edges, and some more detailed fussy cutting around the different fonts.

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. The theme for this month’s sampler page was ‘Plants, Plants, Plants’. I knew I wanted to create a page using the Simply Succulent stamp set and Potted Succulent die set, and when I saw the Bloom Where You’re Planted designer series paper it was a done deal.

The class attendees were able to stamp and colour the large group of succulents however they wanted, and they could also choose any of the plant and pot combinations to fussy cut from the designer series paper. Big choices such as these are always interesting to observe in a class setting. Some people are decisive and quick to piece the many options together, and some take a little more time to consider their options and try out different combinations. Either way, I allow plenty of time in the class so that there isn’t a time pressure forcing decisions, and so that no one is rushing putting their sampler page together.

To provide inspiration for the many different colour combinations for succulents, I simply Googled succulent images and printed of two which showed a mixture of colours. The class attendees found these handouts helpful on the day. We coloured the succulents using Stampin’ Blends. The alcohol-based pens were great for softening and blending even different colours like Blackberry Bliss and Pool Party.

For the two side panels we snipped a narrow piece from a sheet of Paper Lattice and adhered it to the designer series paper. After deliberating over the pots and plants and die cut pieces, and adhering them together, we adhered thin strips of Soft Suede cardstock to create shelves from three of the plants to sit on. For the fourth plant we made a faux macrame hanger using some of the Gray Granite from the Bakers Twine Essentials Pack.

So that the large group of succulents and pot were grounded, we used a thin strip of the brick pattern designer series paper and adhered it to the dark green foliage patterned panel. We used the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch to make the base for the bottom sentiment and adhered a die cut Blackberry Bliss succulent in behind the heat embossed ‘Extraordinary’ sentiment, and for the top sentiment we stamped and embossed the ‘Make the Ordinary’ sentiment then die cut it using one of the dies from the Potted Succulents dies.

To finish off the sampler page we adhered a number of the Genial Gems around the page, and adhered a die cut Blackberry Bliss succulent on top of the centre succulent piece.

Hello and welcome to my blog! This is my first time participating with the group from Let’s Get Hopping and I’m so excited to share this project with you. You’ve come to me from Mikaela’s blog here.

This months challenge was to find an item that we were drawn to and use it as our colour inspiration for a project. Everyday I walk past a Fuchsia I have potted on my deck. It has been a favourite flower of mine since I was a child. I remember Mum having one in the garden outside my bedroom window.

My plant features bright pink and purple flowers, and green foliage. When I thought about these colours the Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper came straight to mind. A few of the pieces of printed paper have ice cream specific images, while the rest have geometric and bold watercolour shape designs.

I heat embossed using White Emboss Powder a sentiment from the Floral Essence stamp set, and fussy cut some of the Terracotta Tile and Blackberry Bliss ice creams to make the focal piece, then chose the coordinating Old Olive patterned paper to match the card base.

To make this quick and easy shaker card I put the piece of DSP into a Clear Medium Envelope. Before sealing the flap down, I sprinkled in some Ice Cream Corner Sprinkles. To make it fit the piece of DSP I simply folded over the long edge and adhered it down with some tape. It is important at this point not to make it too tight otherwise the sprinkles wont be able to shake about.

To pair with the shaker card, I decorated a Love You Always Treat Box using the same sentiment and fussy cut ice creams. This time the ice creams were from a different pattern and included an Old Olive one. The three sit on top of a small rectangle of Subtles Designer Series Paper and coordinating cardstock. A few Ice Cream Corner Sprinkles dotted about, and a length of Blackberry Bliss Striped Ribbon tied into a bow were added for final touches, with a bow tied on in Whisper White twine from the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack.

Today I have with monochrome themed card to share with you. Every so often I participate in a card swap between my extended Stampin’ Up! team members. I love doing them! It is a good way to be able to have a wide range of products and crafting styles to display for my inspiration.

To make this card I started with a Misty Moonlight card base and lightly sponged the front. Doing this simply broke up the block of colour, and blended the panel and the card base together. The images in the Enjoy the Moment stamp set are super trendy right now, and feature a cool sketched style. I wanted to create a focal point around the poppy centers, and just love White Emboss Powder on coloured cardstock.

I created the Very Vanilla panel using a mixture of images from the stamp set, stamped in Misty Moonlight – stamped off. I then sponged the edges, scrunched up a corner, and embossed the panel using the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder.

I adhered the poppy centers onto a piece of Seaside Spray, die cut using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies. The edges were sponged using Misty Moonlight. A Braided Linen Trim bow just finished off the focal piece.

This months sampler theme was ‘Masculine’. My class tied in with Father’s Day, however this design is suitable for any male figure – brother, uncle, friend, etc.

We got extra creative and made the mini notebook from printer paper I had previously died with tea. Each page was stamped using images from the Beautiful World stamp set in coordinating ink colours. We then attached the pages to the cover by stitching them with some twine. The cover was embossed using the Subtles 3D embossing folder, and then aged using a sponge dauber and Soft Suede ink. It is then held closed with a length of Early Espresso Faux Suede Trim and a slide from the Antiqued Corner and Slides pack. To finish off the mini notebook, we adhered die cut elements and covered the spine and two front corners with Early Espresso cardstock.

The sentiment is heat embossed in white onto a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock. We stamped the quill onto a lighter sheet of patterned paper from the World of Good Designer Series Paper pack, and finished off the panel with a corner from the Antiqued Corner and Slides pack.

The globe was die cut using Brass Foil, Misty Moonlight cardstock, and Soft Suede cardstock for the stand. Again, the panel was finished off with a corner from the Antiqued Corner and Slides pack.

The best aspect of this sampler page was that the mini notebook could come off of the page! It was adhered with magnets which meant it could come off to have a photos glued in, or to have some memories jotted in – whatever the owner wanted to do with it really.

Hello! Welcome back :). June’s sampler class was a lot of fun. We used the Mountain Air bundle and made a landscape scene for the theme ‘Mid Winter Fun’.

The Mountain Air stamp set is a reversible set, meaning that every stamp can be placed on a stamping block in reverse, and used to stamp solid images. We used the reverse of the mountain range below to fill in the snow-capped hills.

To make the sunrise/sunset sky we began by sponged Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Terracotta Tile, and Poppy Parade in arches starting from the center of the bottom edge of the Whisper White cardstock.

Next we wet the cardstock, making sure it was quite wet as the Whisper White cardstock will absorb ink and water quickly, and scrunched the piece up into a small ball. We then opened the ball up carefully and placed it aside to dry. Wetting the cardstock in this way smooths out the sponging, and softens the colours.

Once the sky piece was dry, (a heat tool can help this along), we smoothed it out a bit, and adhered it to a piece of Terracotta Tile cardstock. Make sure to use a good amount of Tear & Tape or Snail+ to secure the sky piece in place. We then finished off the sky by brushing on some Frost White Shimmer Paint that was mixed with isopropyl alcohol in a Stampin’ Spritzer.

The mountain ranges were stamped with Night of Navy – stamped off – and then heat embossed in White Embossing Powder to create the snow-capped mountains.

To create more depth in the scene, we stamped the solid mountains in Balmy Blue – stamped off – and placed them so that they sat in a different profile to the snow-capped mountains.

We stamped the sentiment in Terracotta Tile on a strip of So Saffron, and adhered a strip of Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon behind it.

We die cut two trees in Seaside Spray and used a sponge dauber to add shading with Night of Navy ink. To finish off the cluster of trees, we inked up the single tree image in Seaside Spray – stamped off – and again added shading using a sponge dauber and Night of Navy ink. This was then die cut and adhered on top of the other trees using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
